Mr. Roman Kollar – our Master student of physics at the University of Technology in Vienna – started working on his Master thesis for SBI, N2 Applied and himself in March 2013.

March 1st 2013 Mr. Roman Kollar – our Master student of physics at the University of Technology in Vienna –  started working on his Master thesis.  The mandate was shaped by N2 Applied by Rune Ingels – clear and challenging: Plasma and arc behaviour and composition for gliding arc reactor.  The plasma reactor test unit was moved from SBI GmbH premises in Hollabrunn to the Physics department of the University in Vienna in March.

Many encounters in between, but on July 25th time had come for serious testing of results – with an audience.  Energy efficiency results.  For what really matters at the end of the day is the energy efficiency of the plasma reactor.

Mr. Roman Kettler, SBI GmbH, strengthend our the team during the Major Day of Meaurements on July 25th 2013.

Mr. Roman Kettler, SBI GmbH, strengthened the team during the Major Day of Meaurements on July 25th 2013.

This day the team was strengthened by Mr. Roman Kettler, SBI GmbH.  The two Romans cooperated, measured, calculated, evaluated, changed, tried again – all while the professor, the engineers and the commercial lady anxiously followed the graphs and displays.

In the end we got what we hoped for:  Relatively simple adjustments in the parameters and in the electric arc behavior gave significant improvements.  Small adjustments actually cut energy consumption in half.  It was time for lowering our shoulders and actually smile.

Roman and Roman – our Roman Empire – will re-run the most interesting tests during the week to come.  They will continue the process of incremental adjustments and improvements, and what the two of them are discovering and measuring over the next few weeks will give the basis for designing plasma reactor Test Unit no. 3.

Mr. Ferdinand Stempfer, owner and CEO of SBI GmbH, is enthusiastic and forward leaned – we like to see him in this mood.

We are now – after July 25th 2013 – conditionally hopeful that Test Unit no. 3 will have the energy efficiency of a marketable product. Generation I.

A good day at work.
