Cambi AS is a leading provider of technology to convert biodegradable material to renewable
energy. For N2 Applied Cambi is an excellent partner in the prototyping phase of the N fix plasma reactor development project.  Prototyping is scheduled to start at Cambi’s pilot plant at Hamar, Norway, primo May 2014.  A strong team is in place – Paal Jahre Nilsen, Cambi AS,  Ferdinand Stempfer SBI GmbH and Rune Ingels N2 Applied.   The three of them are in the process of defining concept for prototype application, design basis and tasks as we speak.

Cambi  and N2 Applied have agreed to test a plasma reactor prototype in the bio-gas research/pilot unit connected to the Hamar sewage plant in Norway. The research unit at Hamar is a unique system designed to stabilize and upgrade the liquid bio-rest and/or to strip the ammonia from the liquid bio-rest and absorb it in a pure water absorber/condenser. The plasma prototype of 500 watt will produce NOx gas in air.  The NOx air will be absorbed in the liquid bio-rest to react with and bind the free ammonia.  It will also be fed to the condenser side, where both the NOx and the ammonia will be absorbed and reacted to form an ammonium nitrate solution.

The objectives of the prototyping is to test the practical design and operation of a unit in the field, as well as getting a confirmation of how the liquid bio-rest can be stabilized and stored.  The final and most interesting feature for testing is to verify the possible maximum concentration of the pure ammonium nitrate solution produced in the absorber side.
