The company SBI Produktion techn. Anlagen GmbH was founded in 1999 and is located in Hollabrunn, 50 km north of Vienna. SBI is dedicated to the development, production and sale of technical devices in three independent fields:  Extrusion, Welding and Plasma Dissociation. It is the company’s mission to set new benchmarks, to develop solutions for problems which arise tomorrow and which distinguishes from the current state of the art.In the range of welding SBI developed an alternative to conventional resistance spot welding, a plasma process with the main features like one-sided accessibility, no filler material, free of spatter, deep penetration and especially complete reproducibility. Additionally, SBI is constantly working on new projects and developing ways to increase efficiency, economization and sustainability within an established process of production. Currently the company is putting efforts into a project that focuses on surface treatment of plastics with a special plasma process, derived from the plasma welding process.

For the last 2-3 years SBI has partnered with N2 Applied to apply modern process technology to Professor Birkeland’s electric arc principle for direct nitrogen fixation from air. Plasma dissociation is core.  Two test units are produced in Hollabrunn  –  the prototype is next.

Throughout the last ten years SBI has filed patents to create a brand in a niche on the world market of welding. The company is a supplier for system integrators and especially for the automotive and aviation industry. Around 95% of the products are exported, whereas the most important markets are located in Scandinavia, Germany, Spain, Russia, China and Taiwan. Some markets are covered directly from Austria while in other markets well implemented dealers are taking care of marketing, sales and services.SBI is big enough for complex tasks and small enough for flexible teamwork and enthusiasm.
